About Us

Dear members, collaborators and friends,

We are grateful to all contributors, members, sponsors and globally interested parties that are contributing to expanding our network, shaping, and enhancing the profile of EHTG as the European society for Hereditary Tumors.

Importantly, we are a very open and welcoming global groups, always interested in your ideas and active participation! We welcome everybody interested to get actively involved and join us in these efforts to improving our knowledge in the field of hereditary predisposition to cancer and to implement this knowledge for improved clinical care. This effort embraces all clinical disciplines! Please get in touch with any of our board members or our secretariat for any ideas.

The “Mallorca Group” as an interdisciplinary expert group was born in 2006 and held most productive annual meetings focused on collaborative studies with an impressive record of high-impact publications. It was decided in 2015 to move on and open the group, the time when EHTG was initiated.

Mission
The EHTG mission is to improve the life of families with genetic cancer predisposition disorders by developing and supporting the clinical aspects and science of diagnosing, preventing, and treating these disorders.

And how do we accomplish this mission?

  • Current focus is on hereditary gastro-intestinal tumor syndromes, which is our historical strength. We are expanding into related tumor groups as visible in our recent meeting programs.
  • We maintain a multi-disciplinary/cross-professional expert approach.
  • Education is a core activity, and we host educational events in different formats reflecting the interdisciplinarity of EHTG.
  • Y-EHTG is a core committee of the society aimed at developing the future leaders on the field of hereditary cancer.
  • We evaluate evidence-based medicine and translate it into clinical management through dynamic guidelines is one of our core activities.
  • We initiate collaborative studies and build consortia as a core activity.
  • We keep a broad perspective - fundamental, (psycho)social, epidemiological, and clinical.
  • We seek to increase in size and reach out to more professions and countries, not limited to Europe.
  • We include virtual meeting formats to help in reaching out to specific audiences.
  • We seek collaborations and affiliations with other groups/societies to help reach our shared goals.
  • We seek to involve patients and families as active contributors to EHTG.
